Essentialism

Essentialism Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • More than one million copies sold! Essentialism isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done.

“A timely, essential read for anyone who feels overcommitted, overloaded, or overworked.”—Adam Grant

Have you ever:
• found yourself stretched too thin?
• simultaneously felt overworked and underutilized?
• felt busy but not productive?
• felt like your time is constantly being hijacked by other people’s agendas?

If you answered yes to any of these, the way out is the Way of the Essentialist

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

By forcing us to apply more selective criteria for what is Essential, the disciplined pursuit of less empowers us to reclaim control of our own choices about where to spend our precious time and energy—instead of giving others the implicit permission to choose for us.

Essentialism is not one more thing—it’s a whole new way of doing everything. It’s about doing less, but better, in every area of our lives. Essentialism is a movement whose time has come.

This book really was life-changing in clarifying how to determine what's truly important to focus on and cut through the clutter. My new favorite resource for aligning with my key core value, simplicity.55

Life Changing Book5 star

I'm so sad that I have finished reading this book of Essentualism. It hit me hard and I wished I had read it in my 20s instead of my 50s. As a minimalist, I am constantly seeking life affirming messages that I am not the right track. This book not only proved to me that I was on the right track but helped me focus on which track to be on. I can't recommend this book enough!55

What a great read!!5 star

I am a 29 year old young professional and I truly left like that things were getting out of hand in all aspects of my life. I prayed about it and the next day, this book was featured in a podcast that I was listening to. This was an answered prayer for me. This book has changed my life. From the way that we make decisions or don't, to the way we prioritize, this book will really help you make changes in your life to live with purpose in all areas. It will be tough to apply some of the principles, as you are unlearning some cultural, personal, and emotional habits, but it works. Great read!55
