Enter the thrilling third volume in the epic Collegium Chronicles.
In Mercedes Lackey's classic coming-of-age story, the orphan Magpie pursues his quest for his parent's identity with burning urgency-while also discovering another hidden talent and being trained by the King's Own Herald as an undercover agent for Valdemar. Shy Bardic Trainee Lena has to face her famous but uncaring father, one of Valdemar's most renowned Bards. And Healing Trainee Bear must struggle against his disapproving parents, who are pressuring Bear to quit the Healers' Collegium because he lacks the magical Healing Gift.
Each of the three friends must face his or her demons and find their true strength as they seek to become the full Heralds, Bards, and Healers of Valdemar.
This series has been such a pleasure to read. Her characters become friends. Her writing style is easy going with an intriguing plot. She gifts her readers with a breath of fresh air tale that keeps them wanting more. This is for fun folks. Enjoyment seems to be her goal and she has triumphantly accomplished that. Can't wait for the next installment of this compelling tale.55
I love Mercedes Lackey, and have read at least 30 of her books, but I don't understand why anyone would pay 12.99 for an ebook when you can get the paperback for 7.99. It costs NOTHING to mass produce a file... Seems backward to me. I will not be buying this here.15
Great read! Suspenseful, intriguing, and just plain fun!55
Usually I love the Valdemar series, this one not so much. It seemed like a middle book not an end as it left major questions unresolved and essentially reprised several scenes from theTakes a Thief series, which is admittedly one of my favorites. I hope she slows down on her publication schedule and puts a bit mor thought and polish into the next installment, if there is one.15
