From Liane Moriarty, author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Big Little Lies and Truly Madly Guilty, comes an unforgettable novel defined by her signature sharp wit, page-turning storyline, and lovable and eccentric characters.
Sophie Honeywell always wondered if Thomas Gordon was the one who got away. He was the perfect boyfriend, but on the day he was going to propose, she broke his heart. A year later he married his travel agent, while Sophie has been mortifyingly single ever since. Now Thomas is back in her life because Sophie has unexpectedly inherited his aunt Connie's house on Scribbly Gum Island—home of the famously unsolved Munro Baby mystery.
Sophie moves onto the island and begins a new life as part of an unconventional family, where it seems everyone has a secret. Grace, a beautiful young mother, is feverishly planning a shocking escape from her perfect life. Margie, a frumpy housewife, has made a pact with a stranger, while dreamy Aunt Rose wonders if maybe it's about time she started making her own decisions.
As Sophie's life becomes increasingly complicated, she discovers that sometimes you have to stop waiting around—and come up with your own fairy-tale ending.

I’m a big fan of Moriarty! She has always been talented, this is only her second of her nine novels. Her earlier works are a bit more light hearted and less dramatic than her later ones. There are family dynamics to untangle, a great big mystery, and very dark (exciting!) topics throughout, but not quite as dark and shocking as her more recent works. I’ve never been a person to devour a book, usually enjoy it over a few months, but his was my fastest read in just about 10 days (and I was working 6 back to back 12 hour shifts and got no reading done at work). If you’re looking for a dynamic, fun mystery to burn through quickly, this is your book! If you want something a bit more bold and surprising try The Husband’s Secret, Big Little Lies, or Truly Marly Guilty (the first books to make me cry while flipping pages frantically as I could see it playing out in devastating slow motion before my eyes!) I suspect 9 Perfect Strangers will be her best yet!55
Had to force myself to finish - dragged on and on😫15
A wonderful story of family with complex and interesting characters and relationships.55
Liane Moriarity is one of my most beloved authors. There is not a character she has introduced or story she’s written that has disappointed or left me without a smile. There are days when I like a good solid book with a good solid beginning, middle and end. And humor. Liane Moriarity is good company.55
