I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I just LOVED this book. Danny has appeared in all of the books in this series and we finally get to read his HEA. Danny is at odds with his life. He loves his job as sheriff but he pictured a wife and maybe a child or two by now. Unfortunately the girl that he liked in high school left for the big city of Houston right after graduation. Danny gets some dinner but doesn't want to eat at home nor sitting down in a restaurant. He decides to eat his dinner at a rest stop that he enjoys the views from. A sports car comes into the rest stop and is shortly followed by another. The driver of the second car gets out and assaults the driver of the first vehicle. It turns out that the driver in the sports car is none other than the girl from high school, Skylar Long. The rest of the story is one that is filled with intrigue and suspense. We get to see the prior characters return here and help Skylar and Danny. I loved how the book not only was written in the dual POV that I favor, but also it included Matt's, Skylar's abusive ex-boyfriend now stalker. I was a little disappointed in Skylar's character. She seemed to entered into sexual relationships rather easily in her life in Houston. I don't approve of that normally and I wished her character was a little different. Having sex between Danny and Skylar as soon as it was, was a little too much for me but it didn't affect how I adored the story. I was glued to my e-reader to hurry and see what was going to happen next. Unfortunately for me, that also leads to the conclusion of the story. There are several scenes that may not be appropriate for anyone under the age of 18. There are some sexy scenes between Danny and Skylar as well as a scene of violence. While this book could be read as a stand-alone, I highly encourage to start at the beginning. Seeing the relationships develop with all of the characters really will help to show the dedication and loyalty that these characters have for each other. I look forward to several more stories in this series. There are a few more men that needs a HEA for me to read about.55

Strong characters equals a fiery romance5 star

Not every knight wears armor and rides up on a white horse. Some wear a badge and drive a pickup. This is a love story that shows that there is someone out there for everyone. Just sometimes you need to wait awhile. “she knew that if anyone could protect her, it was Danny Oldman.” Skylar has been through hell and back in an abusive relationship. Danny, though he loves his job, finds himself hiding after he takes off his badge. What once would have been puppy love has kindled into a fiery relationship. This is not a story for everyone. It does have some elements that may trigger some readers with events of domestic abuse. But it is told well, with compassion and strength. This is another novel by Donna Grant where you find yourself reading into the early morning hours, because you can’t wait to see what happens to your characters. Well worth it in my eyes.55

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read all of this series but the first book and I need to go back and read Clayton and Abby’s book soon. This is a friend of the family’s hea. Danny the local sheriff and a old flame from high school, Skylar. They had feelings for each other but never acted on them. Skylar left for the big city and never returned. When Skylark need help the most Danny was there to help. Danny knew he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time and he also knew his life was about to chance. If Danny can keep Skylar safe they just might have the future they both crave.45

A fantastic second chance romance!5 star

4.5 Stars This book features Danny and Skylar. These two have feelings that go way back to high school but were never acted on. Imagine his surprise when he stops a domestic violence scene and Skylar is the woman. The story is about Danny, a sheriff, protecting Skyler from a wealthy man who thinks if he can’t have her, then no one can. It’s about these two getting a second chance at long buried feelings. The story line is fantastic with great flow. This is a small town romance with awesome characters. These characters are people I’d love to be friends with.55

Powerful story line. We are back in Texas with those sweet bad to the bone tough guys. Donna Grant took this book to new heights. I was on pens and needles most of the time. Skyler is running from trouble and ends up in her home town. Danny comes to the rescue and along with the other guys and couples help her to start her life over. Wonderful story.55

If you love Cowboys...4 star

If you’re a Donna Grant fan you know she has a way of pulling you into the world she created. If you’ve read the other 3 books in this series you know how Danny has always been a friend to the East’s and Harper’s. It was great to see him get his own story even if he had to survive he’ll to get it. This story is real and unfortunately relatable to many. Skylar finds herself in an abusive relationship and goes through hell to survive. I’m looking forward to the next cowboy adventure.45

Loved this couple4 star

I really liked Danny. He seemed to subconsciously wait for Skylar to come back into his life. He had a crush on her in High School and she moved away as soon as they graduated. He never got serious with anyone else in the time they were apart and I like that it might have been because his heart was already taken. Skylar also had a crush on Danny in high school. If only these two had the guts to approach each other, but then Danny had a point when he said it just wasn't their time yet. Great couple. This also had some pretty exciting drama with the ex stalking Skylar and his very, rich family trying to bail him out. Things escalated pretty quickly which made for a fast paced read. I loved how all the guys banded together, and the women too. There is still several single men in this tight group so I expect more to come in this series.45
