The Fred Factor

The Fred Factor Summary

Seize the chance to be extraordinary.

Who has made the biggest difference in your life? Whose words and actions have uplifted and motivated you to excel? Chances are it was someone like Fred the Postman -- so outstanding in his service that Mark Sanborn realized this mail carrier could be an example for any person wanting to be extraordinary.

The “Fred Factor” is summarized by four principles that will release fresh energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in your career and life:

• Make a Difference
• Build Relationships
• Create Value
• Reinvent Yourself

You, too, can apply The Fred Factor to enrich the lives of customers, co-workers, friends, and family members, as well as reach new levels of personal success yourself. Sanborn also shows how to discover and develop other Freds.

Why not become a “Fred” yourself? You will turn the ordinary moments of life into extraordinary opportunities to make a difference in the world.

Fred (Fred), and also, Fred3 star

God bless the mailman who changed Mr. Sanborn’s perspective of what could be done to change every day life into something extraordinary. Before my criticism, I will state that conceptually I agree with what Mr. Sanborn has written throughout the book. However, this book is far too lengthy for its topic. If you read the story of Fred once, you don’t need to remember it, because it will be stated, re-stated, re-worded, and reintroduced chapter after chapter. For a book called “The Fred Factor,” you might argue that this is perfectly normal. But for someone trying to get value for the time spent reading, I am coming up short. I felt as if the book was on repeat. What Fred does every day, and what we ought to strive to do every day, is create positive experiences for our customers. I understood the idea after reading the first chapter. What Mr. Sanborn does is start with that excellent concept and ends up beating a dead horse in the name of poor Mr. Fred.35

Life Changing(if you let it)5 star

This book could truly change your life if you get busy and let it. It really makes you think about your purpose and the impact you have on others. The principles in this book are simple but powerful. If we were all more like Fred our world would be a much better place in which to live. Hoping to be more like Fred and infect those around me with the “Fred Factor.”55

This is an excellent book and should be read by all. Starting with our kids in school, this book could really make a difference on how they live their lives. Businesses need this book for all of our employees. I do think this book could make a huge difference in our country if we all were searching and finding more Freds in our lives. It has made a huge difference in my life and I look at each day as a new opportunity to find more Freds to make my life and of those around me better! Thanks Mark for a great book, I can't wait to read Fred 2.0, I start today! Kathy Kuyoth Broker/Co-Owner Remax Preferred Associates Toledo, Ohio55

Very inspiring5 star

My mother-in-law gave me this book to read. It was a pleasure to read and gave me a new philosophy to live by. Some may think The Fred Factor is an overly utopian idea but if more people were like Fred, stress and tension would be minimized.55
