Nine years ago her daughter was taken. And now she’s back.
Two-and-a-half-year-old Holly is playing happily in a pink plastic playhouse, while her mother Rachel sips coffee and chats with a friend nearby. It should be an ordinary day for all of them. But, in the blink of an eye, it turns into every family’s worst nightmare.
Holly is taken by a stranger and never found.
Nine years later, Rachel is doing her best, living a quiet life in Dorset. She’s tried to forget the traumatic day when she lost her daughter, hide her broken heart and put everything into her new family and loving partner, who know none of the secrets in her painful past.
Until one afternoon when Rachel meets a new school parent and her beautiful teenage daughter. Rachel’s world is instantly turned upside down. She’d recognise that face anywhere – it’s her missing child.
Rachel is overwhelmed with joy – and fear. Has the woman who abducted Holly followed her? How will her partner react when he learns about the trauma she has hidden for so many years? And given how much time has passed, what if no one believes her?
But Rachel knows it’s Holly. And she will stop at nothing to get her back…

Great read ! Hard to put down! That twist tho! Make sure there is time to finish once the book is started because the reader will want know what happened!55
I liked the book, except when the names started confusing me who was who…especially towards the end. They could have made another book on going forward with Rachel getting to know her daughter…45
Great read and man what a twist!!55
You'll never see it coming! Very well written; I couldn't put it down.55
This book was so thrilling...I couldn’t put it down!! I never expected the ending. Now I’ll be reading more of Shalini Boland’s books!!55
I wanted to like this book, but most of the story is not well thought out. It borders on the ridiculous, and I’m kicking myself for wasting the past week reading it. The final chapters are supposed to be serious, but I kept finding myself chuckle at the absurdity.25
great twist at the end, i literally gasped!45
The Other Daughter is a brilliantly written book with two narratives separated by time. The story is captivating and Rachel’s emotional turmoil as she ruffles through Holly’s past is captured beautifully. The twist at the end isn’t exactly something you wouldn’t expect but it’s still powerful. Overall, this book was quite the ride and had me going through the chapters with frantic anticipation.55
Great premise and yet easy to guess outcome. I’d prefer far more depth and sophistication in the writing. Could have been much more had it been a better written story.15
Very well written. Great suspense. Loved twist at the end. Didn’t see that coming. Will recommend.55
