My uncle gave me this book when I was younger and unintentionally changed the direction of my life. Dale Carnegie feels sincere and genuine in every thought and his statements and beliefs written so long ago still stand up today with modern research. Only fall-back of the book is that, because it is older, it does not include conversations with people of other cultures nor does it speak of dynamics between genders. I don’t consider this a fault of Mr. Carnegie so much as a product of his time period. Excellent book, I’ve given it as a gift at least 12 times to family members and friends who all enjoyed it at much as myself.55
This book changed the way I look at human social interaction. I find that many of its components are true, despite how hard it can be to implement. Some people have a shell around then that is almost impossible to crack and despite my attempts to gain their support, it never materializes. I think this book gives a person another option. If you use these techniques, it may work well for influencing some people, but not others. Some people indeed require an iron fist, others a pat on the back.45
I honestly have not read this book but it has been recommended to me time and time again. The thing I find most off putting is how it blatantly objectifies people in the very title.35
Very well done. Helps you work and laugh with others. Unfortunately you can’t always trust people, if you really do put your trust in others than have your house broken into, and never hear from them again. I am just saying this book was written for a different era. Learn to read people and their intentions as well as this book.55

While the examples and references don’t exactly hold up these many years later, the principles do! It’s a shame that so many people are being held back in their relationships, friendships and work life by a passive ineptitude at communication and interpersonal skills. This book provides a lot of great insight into how we all should approach our experiences and interactions with colleagues, bosses and those we strive to have meaningful and equitable relationships with. My only criticism of this book would be that with each chapter or lesson, Carnegie gives example after example of the same principle. This became a bit tiresome about halfway through, but if you absorb these lessons and use them in your life I’d be surprised if the payoff didn’t warrant the investment.35
Absolutely love this book it teaches you an understanding of not only yourself but the people around you also. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a better understanding of human characteristics.55
How would you like it if u were paid $0.99 an hour for your time, you are acting like a selfish person the money for the books also go to the author did you even for once think about those people too. You may not like Apple’s Book prices but that doesn’t give u the right to say the author isn’t worth anything because in reality we are all trying to make a living, maybe if you go thru your finances and cut out the items that don’t bring any monetary/educational value to your life then u could afford to buy a learning tool because it seems to me like u need it.55
