It's five years after Return of the Jedi: the Rebel Alliance has destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and driven out the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet to a distant corner of the galaxy. Princess Leia and Han Solo are married and expecting Jedi Twins. And Luke Skywalker has become the first in a long-awaited line of Jedi Knights. But thousand of light-years away, the last of the emperor's warlords has taken command of the shattered Imperial Fleet, readied it for war, and pointed it at the fragile heart of the new Republic. For this dark warrior has made two vital discoveries that could destroy everything the courageous men and women of the Rebel Alliance fought so hard to build. The explosive confrontation that results is a towering epic of action, invention, mystery, and spectacle on a galactic scale--in short, a story worthy of the name Star Wars.
Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!
This book is amazing. It’s a great starting point into the wonderful EU (legends). Grand Admiral Thrawn is such a compelling character, and if you only know him from Rebels, you don’t know him at all. He is a cold tactician who knows our heroes’ every move, and I find that extremely fascinating. Zahn provides a great in-depth look into the brand new characters, as well as the familiar ones we love. I’m not gonna waste your time any longer, buy this book!55
I loved this book! I didn’t discover the Legends lore until the lockdowns! This book and the rest of the series is so good! Disney should throw away the sequel trilogy and start looking at the legend’s lore!55
I’m a long time fan of the films, comics, and shows. However, I’ve never gotten into the novels until Heir of the Empire. Not only is it well written because of the familiar characters and placement of the story I didn’t feel totally loss. I’m extremely excited to read next part of the trilogy.55
This is the first time I’ve read Heir in maybe two decades, and it still holds epic. Highly recommend. Mara and Luke’s first interactions are the highlight.55
I ❤️ Star Wars it was the first movie I saw in theaters and I love it and the books are the best this one is my favorite one55
Always Been a Huge Star Wars Fan - and as such have finally gotten around to Reading the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. Looking forward to reading the next two books in the Series. Zahn is a talented Sci-Fi writer & I can see why this Series is a MUST READ for Star Wars fans.55
Thrawn was great! Wasn’t the biggest fan of Mara Jade. Hopefully, I’ll begin to like her more in the next book. Loved reading about the clone Jedi. Overall, excellent story!55
O.K., I watch Star Wars Rebels and I think Thrawn is so annoying. I was hesitant to read this but I did, and I found that Thrawn in this was way less annoying! Some of the Han Solo parts are really funny, too.55
This book is amazing! It introduces you to so many great characters like Mara Jade and Grand Admiral Thrawn while it also has many old characters too like Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, C3PO, R2-D2 ect. It also has such an interesting plot line! It is very hard to put down. I would definitely recommend it! 🙌👌👍55
That this is being ignored as far as movie production, is an utter shame. THIS continued the universe that made us sit in awe. I read everything that came after this in the timeline, save for the xwing series. I only did so because of the pictures Mr. Zahn painted in my head. I'm thankful for all the fun, from Heir to Scoundrels, and all the in between, I had a blast! The characters, old and new, the environments, and all the story and action one would expect or hope for after freeing a galaxy far, far away.55
