Abundance

Abundance Summary

The New York Timesbestselling “manifesto for the future that is grounded in practical solutions addressing the world’s most pressing concerns: overpopulation, food, water, energy, education, health care and freedom” (The Wall Street Journal).

Since the dawn of humanity, a privileged few have lived in stark contrast to the hardscrabble majority. Conventional wisdom says this gap cannot be closed. But it is closing—and fast.

In Abundance, space entrepreneur turned innovation pioneer Peter H. Diamandis and award-winning science writer Steven Kotler document how progress in artificial intelligence, robotics, digital manufacturing synthetic biology, and other exponentially growing technologies will enable us to make greater gains in the next two decades than we have in the previous 200 years. We will soon have the ability to meet and exceed the basic needs of every person on the planet. Abundance for all is within our grasp.

Breaking down human needs by category—water, food, energy, healthcare, education, freedom—Diamandis and Kotler introduce us to innovators and industry captains making tremendous strides in each area. “Not only is Abundance a riveting page-turner…but it’s a book that gives us a future worth fighting for” (The Christian Science Monitor).

Mind Expanding Book5 star

Extraordinary, Fantastic, Mind expanding!!!!! This is a must read for all responsible world citizens. Why? Because it shows the proof of where the world is in exacting scientific terms ->the data -> the results -> the proof -> the future! And ITS GOOD NEWS! I would use the word BLESSED but Abundance will do. It shows how the media is feeding us terrible news that is not true (propaganda actually). Cheer up, the world is in fact getting better and better.55

Abundance by Peter H. Diamandis5 star

An inspiring book that everyone on the planet needs to read. Should be a part of the primary school curriculum. Flys in the face of all the doom and gloom in the media, but still paints a realistic picture of the challenges we face as a species.55

This is the best quasi-scientific book I have read so far I'm my entire reading career. It has provided, for me at least, a huge dose of optimism and most of all a rekindling of hope in the future of mankind. A "must" read.55

This is a hard read. The background and ideas seem legitimate, the theoretics are somewhat far fetched. As a reader, it seemed to jump around and did not have the flow of a good book.25

The rise of automation5 star

This is a wonderfully compelling book that clears away the cobwebs and smoke by explaining things from the perspective of a different model, one of abundance brought to you by technology. As Will Robinson's mom told him, so shall we do: We will make new friends. And doing so, we will remake the world to be a kinder, gentle place than the one we received, making sure everyone can contribute and that no one lacks food, shelter, medicine or education. We will do away with economic slavery once and for all and we will stop using people like machines.55
