Sailing Made Easy & Coastal Cruising Made Easy

Sailing Made Easy & Coastal Cruising Made Easy Summary

Sailing Made Easy, which Sailing Magazine called "best in class" upon its release in 2010, is the most comprehensive education and boating safety learn-to-sail guide to date. It is also the official textbook for the ASA Basic Keelboat Standard (ASA 101). Incorporated in the textbook are useful illustrations and exceptional photographs of complex sailing concepts. The texts’ most distinguishing features are their user friendly "spreads" in which instructional topics are self-contained on opposing pages throughout the book. There are also chapter end quizzes and a glossary to help those new to sailing to navigate their way through the extensive nautical terminology.

Coastal Cruising Made Easy is not only the official textbook for the ASA Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 103), but also the definitive go-to resource for all sailors who enjoy cruising and destination oriented sailing. The text is published in full color and contains striking sailing photography from well-known photographer Billy Black, and world-class illustrations from award-winning illustrator Peter Bull. This easy to read learning tool follows the critically acclaimed Sailing Made Easy, which Sailing Magazine called "best in class" upon its release in 2010. Sailing Made Easy is the #1 resource in basic sailing education, and Coastal Cruising Made Easy has become the industry standard in intermediate sailing education.

Book Reviews

Terrible formatting.1 star

A waste of money for my needs. It’s not a true e-book. You can’t change the font size, highlight, make notes. Most frustrating is that they don’t tell you that in the description. Save your money.15

Not really useful as a study book2 star

Why publisher disambel higlighting in this book is beyond me and a major flaw of the e-version. This is supposed to be a study book! Until this is fixed the e-version has a very limited use.25

Good info but lacks iBooks functionality2 star

Great info, but you can’t highlight, search, or adjust text size. ASA readers and learners deserve a version that makes use of iBooks.25

the iBook version has eBook problems3 star

This review only discusses the presentation of the material not the content. The publishers have disabled the ability to permanently highlight passages or zoom in past full page. At that level of magnification the text is tiny making it hard, equivalent to 9 or 10 point font.35
