Dana Stabenow'sMidnight Come Again is a magnificent crime novel about life in America's last wilderness, the heart-wrenching grief that goes with love, and murder.
Kate, a former investigator for the Anchorage D.A. and now a P.I. for hire, is missing after a winter spent in mourning. Alaska State Trooper Jim Chopin, Kate's best friend, needs her to help him work a new case. He discovers her hiding out in Bering, a small fishing village on Alaska's western coast, living and working under an assumed name-- working hard, as 18-hour workdays seem to be her only justification for getting up in the morning. But before they can even discuss Kate's last several months, or what Jim is doing looking for her in Bering, they're up to their eyes in Jim's case, which is suddenly more complicated--and more dangerous--than they suspect.
Well written book with great characters and plot. Vinca22155
Very riveting! Helps fill in the story that I read before that turned out to be out of sequence. Kate brings a lot of55
I love reading Dana's books. I grew up in remote Alaska. I forgot things like keeping my boom box in a blazo box. But she reminded me of those fun memories. She combines Alaskans quirkiness with beauty and intrigue that keeps you turning pages. She writes a true Alaska picture with enough fiction to keep you entertained and lost in Kates world.55
Would still like you to carry the 5th-9th Kate Shugak books!!!!!55
My fourth Kate Shugak book and now I want to read them all.55
