It's no accident… it's murder.
Found at the bottom of his exercise pool, police believe the death of Steve Smiley's friend is an accident. Smiley doesn't buy it.
There are a lot of things a blind man can do, but solve a murder alone isn't one of them. He needs a partner… one who knows their way around a crime scene. In walks Heather McBlythe. She can help him solve the crime, but can she keep him out of danger? Steve doesn't have a choice. Without her someone will get away with murder.
Armed with years of experience as a homicide detective and his new partner, Smiley sets out to find a killer. He knows he's on the right trail when a bullet whizzes past his ear. Will Steve resurrect his life as a master crime solver, or will his sleuthing get them both killed?
The suspense and action in the Smiley and McBlythe Mysteries will keep you turning the pages to find out whodunit! No foul language, sex scenes or graphic violence—just a great mystery waiting to be solved.
5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Suspense, edgy, with a keen wit/sense of humor thrown in, made this mystery superb! There is a quality of experience(s) and/or knowledge of police, detective, private investigator, and lawyer. All of those held and kept me reading for long periods of time. The story/plot flows smoothly. Smiley and McBlythe are the key main characters. All characters are well developed as the story advances. This first book of the series is FREE! What a surprise! Bruce Hammack—YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT WRITER AND AUTHOR!!! I am a new fan. And, I will be gladly buying the rest of this series. Plus, all other stories you write! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰55
This book is a winner imo. I really enjoyed the two main characters and how their working relationship and friendship evolves. I’ve been reading free books for a few years and this is the first time I’ll be paying for the second book in a series. I’m not sure if this speaks to how cheap I am or how good this book is. Maybe both? ;)55
This was a really good book and kept me interested to see who the killer was. They work well together!55
The book was so interesting loved all the twists and turns.55
I could not put the book down. I loved Steve Smiley, a Blind retired detective and Heather McBlythe, the lawyer, former detective and she has a finance degree. They were working on the case of Ned Logan, a former D.A. And the murder victim in this case. Ned was a very good friend of Smiley, and Smiley had thought this was a murder not suspicious death. McBlythe was kicked out of the Academy after her disgruntled father took matters in to his hands. Smiley and McBlythe began to work together on Logan’s case. It was intriguing on how they came up with the facts and solved the case. You must take a few hours and read about the case. I can’t wait to read more.55
