Stroke of Midnight

Stroke of Midnight Summary

Money can buy anything. And anyone. As the head of the Constantine family, I’m used to people bowing to my will. Cruel, rigid, unyielding—I’m all those things. When I discover the one woman who doesn’t wither under my gaze, but instead smiles right back at me, I’m intrigued.
Ash Elliott needs cash, and I make her trade in crudeness and degradation for it. I crave her tears, her moans. I pay for each one. And every time, she comes back for more. When she challenges me with an offer of her own, I have to decide if I’m willing to give her far more than cold hard cash.
But love can have deadly consequences when it comes from a Constantine. At the stroke of midnight, that choice may be lost for both of us.

Welcome to the Midnight Dynasty... The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors.

Not my style4 star

Most of the content was a little too much for me, and the interactions between the girl and her step-brothers, particularly at the end and in that one scene felt very harsh to me. I know it was supposed to be that way, but I struggle with that so a warning would’ve been nice at the beginning of the book. Other than that, it’s beautifully written and I love the vocabulary. The banter between the main characters is to die for and it’s classy, while raunchy. Another thing that bugged me was the age gap, but that’s a personal thing for me and some may have no problem with it! I loved the book❤️45

This book ticked ALL my boxes5 star

This book ticked ALL my boxes. I absolutely loved alpha Winston Constantine and his dirty mouth together with sassy, young Ash Elliott and their fun and kinky pay-to-play games. This book isn't as dark as some of the others I have read in the Midnight Dynasty world but it does have a hint of under-someone's-thumb - which I suspect gets much worse in the next book - and that dynamic always gets to me. It was always my least favorite part of the Cinderella story, though there are other elements inspired by it in this book that I adored. I read this book SO fast, and can't wait to dive into book two and see what happens next.55

Disappointing2 star

I enjoyed the storyline and the main characters until I came to the end of the book and found a cliffhanger. I am not found of stories where authors drag out the story over multiple books. If this was a stand alone book it would have been a 5 star rating.25

Sexual assault; ends on cliffhanger1 star

I really wish authors would stop using sexual assault as a lazy and gross way to add suspense/drama. Heroine gets sexually assaulted multiple times by her stepbrothers. Barf. And it ends on a cliffhanger FYI.15

Good and entertaining read. Sometimes dark but sexy too.4 star

I’m not very much into reading older man younger woman stuff but it was very interesting. First time reading about this author and I got hooked. I’m reading the next book. Good read.45

The Queen of Dark & Twisty is at it again!5 star

The queen of dark and twisty is at it again with this gnarly retelling of the Cinderella story. Ash is no smoldering ember, she is a fierce flame. Fighting against her stepfamily to become what she wants. Winston is absolutely no prince charming, he is a villain straight out of K. Webster's playbook. He is the king in the world he has created and commands with an iron fist. When he sees Ash, breaking all kinds of his rules, he takes her to task, hard. Ash and Winston's relationship is anything but "normal" but it works for them. Angst and thrills are aplenty in this story. I couldn't help but feel for Ash and the abuse she received from her family. I applauded her "brattiness" when dealing with Winston. This is a quick read and I had no idea it was going to end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but I can't wait to read the next book!55

Amazing!!!5 star

I can’t wait for the next book! Couldn’t put this one down!55

Deliciously dark & dirty!5 star

Smoking hot! Holy moly, I was not expecting this! I should've know with this author and the word dark that it would be on another level. Don't let that deceptively sweet cover fool you because there's not much sweet in this story other than the sweet young thing that the villainous Winston corrupts with his dark, disturbing predilections. He's one cold hearted villain in this story. And H.O.T. with his business acumen and good looks and dirty talking and dirtier play. I love the inside his head bits where we get to know exactly what he’s thinking. Winston is the ruler of all things Constantine, the family that rules NYC. It's all about family, legacy and blood. When an encounter between the CEO and the barely legal Ash turns into a dominating thrill for both, a relationship is born. A relationship about control, humiliation and expectations. I love Win and Ash! He turns her into a submissive for money when she's desperate to pay for college without depending on her nasty stepmother. Here's the Cinderella part that's so much fun. Along with stepmonster there's the evil Terror Triplets, three nasty stepbrothers. Ugh, they're so bad! Plus, there's the blood feud with the Constantine's nemesis, the Morellis. Awful Italians! Everything going pretty good until the fateful night of the ball. Such a cliffhanger that's left me jonesing for the next part an so many questions. What happens to Ash? What will Winston think and do? Winston and Ash's bad habit may be their undoing. This is a fantastic, darkly delicious retelling of a twisted take on Cinderella that will flame your panties and melt your heart as the youngster Ash melts that cold heart of villain Winston. Absolutely fabulous! A must read!55
