Chills Summary

Introducing Chills, the first installment of the Distinguished Rogues series. Bestselling regency romance author, Heather Boyd, brings readers a lively tale of reckless spending, fraudulent correspondence, and the humorous twists and turns of falling for the right rogue…

London, 1813

Jack, Marquess of Ettington, is at his wits’ end dealing with his twin sister’s distress. Under her name, he’s summoned Constance Grange, his vexing former ward, to London to act as his sister’s companion for the season. Although Pixie’s debt-ridden state comes as a complete surprise, what disturbs him more is his sister’s plan to find her a wealthy husband to pay off her overwhelming debts. And—despite his availability, wealth and title—he’s shocked to be overlooked for the position of Pixie’s husband.

With a nickname like Pixie, Constance Grange should be used to disasters, but debt collectors pounding on the Marquess of Ettington’s door demanding payment is beyond mortifying. Given the precarious state of her finances and the previously unknown loss of her family estate, her choices are either incarceration in debtors’ prison or turning fortune hunter to secure a wealthy husband. Yet the man who comes to her rescue more times than she cares to think about is unavailable, betrothed, and her former guardian Jack—the cold-hearted marquess.

Book Reviews

Had Some Issue, Still Read It In A Day!4 star

It’s a good book! I did truly enjoy reading it and as the title says, I read it in a few hours because of this. My only main gripe is when it comes to the main female character, the writing felt predictable and I was annoyed. It played into the “young and innocent” act way too much that it sometimes felt unbelievable but the we able to get past it and overall enjoyed the story!!45

Slow But Pretty Good3 star

I found the plot to be too slow for my taste. I also found myself less than invested in the characters because of it. I don’t regret picking it up though.35

Slow chill3 star

A bit to slow of a plot for me.35

Not sure about the title but it’s a sweet slow historical romance. Just right for relaxing with.45

It’s just drags on and on and on2 star

Honestly I love this genre. I devour titles in a day or less but this one I simply put down 91% of the way through (according to iBooks) It’s impossible to finish when there three ridiculously shallow plot lines and 200 too many iPhone sized pages devoted to nothing. Another 130 pages are devoted to the male lead assuming his love interest knows they’ll get married but never asks and our female heroine just comes across as the most clueless written character to date. Even free it’s a waste of mb on your hard drive. Skip it.25

A wonderful read. The characters are well developed. The plot a bit over the top, but held my attention.55

I loved the story but felt it rambled at times. I skipped a couple chapters and found I haven’t missed anything.45
