Alexis Levine has just graduated from high school and intends to join the Army as soon as she turns eighteen. Her dream is to become a sniper, just like her often absent father. During routine weapons practice, she meets Mark Steel, the head of a small team of agents who work for a mysterious organization. He needs someone with outstanding skills to help his squad destroy seven psychotic psychics. With her father overseas on a mission, she is the next best choice.
Still reeling from the knowledge that psychics actually exist, Lexi agrees to become a temporary member of their team. From the first moment that she meets Reece Garrett, she is instantly drawn to him. He is strong, sexy and charismatic and unfortunately thinks of her as little more than a child.
Agent Garrett and his team have a secret that few people are aware of. They are shape shifters who transform into ravenous beasts with every full moon. The upside of being shifters is that they possess a natural resistance to mind control, which makes them the perfect team to hunt the psychics. But Reece soon learns that some instincts are impossible for even him to deny. Caught in a mind trap that he can't escape from, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to the newest member of the team.
Wow! I feel totally blown away. I actually had low expectations and with very few exceptions, I only read stand alone stories. I was absolutely stunned by the book. It grabbed and held my attention. I was enthralled and fascinated by the intriguing story line, so much so that I am going to purchase book #2 now.45
Each and every book in this series leaves you wanting more! The twists and turns are perfectly formed. I loved them all.55
This is the first book I have ever read from this author and I was completely blown away. I would give it a ten if I was able to. The main character Alexis Levine, Lexi is likable right off. I felt as though I was part of the storyline. As she goes through everything you will feel invested. Also the other characters in the story flow smoothly. This book is a YA paranormal book, I highly recommend it to everyone. I look forward to reading the next book.55
Don't let the god-awful cover deter you. This book is really quite good. It is really hard to read an original paranormal YA type romance now-a-days without coming across a lot of repeat themes, but this book has more originality than several I've read lately. Though there are some expected cliches, the arrangement and introduction of new concepts are refreshing. I bought the second book...and that in itself is saying something. I download virtually every free starter I come across and rarely go on to purchase the second. I would estimate that I go on to purchase the second book of a series 1 out of 20 times, probably less. And after the second I rarely need to purchase the third. I'm halfway through the second and can see me wanting the third.45
