Sleepy little North Bend just woke up.

The newly promoted Sergeant Jade Monroe, and her partner, Detective Jack Steele, have just been informed of an unidentified male body found at a local lake. The town is in an uproar. The victim was nearly decapitated, and murder simply doesn't happen in North Bend.

As more bodies turn up, the single connection between all of the victims becomes clear—it's Jade, herself.

With each new victim getting one step closer to Jade, time begins to tick away. She must find the person responsible before her loved ones, or herself, are targeted next.

I love Jade Monroe and all the characters in these series of books. I read the first one and was hooked. It’s a great read. The writing helps me wind down and forget the stress of my day. I can imagine being there and picture the places. C M Sutter is a great story teller.55

This first book had good flow, making it enjoyable and an easy read. The characters were clearly developed though not in depth... not even the heroine. This book was one that helped pass time without getting the reader bogged down in superfluous detail. My only real negative comment surrounds how after painstaking detective work, the two primary police people came to the same conclusion about the killer without any previous discussion. It appeared the murderer’s name just popped up out of nowhere. Thus, the ending seemed abrupt and not as well thought out as the previous 400+ pages. I found that disappointing.45

Fair to so so book; except it is written as if that Jane is in charge instead of Jack. So Jane could not be a newly promoted detective. Know it is fiction but somethings should stay true too realty.35
