New York Times Bestselling Trilogy. All Books OUT NOW
"My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold."
Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.
For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.
But lusty paradise is shattered.
Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.
Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can't save her from the horror of being sold.
Can Brax find Tess before she's broken and ruined, or will Tess's new owner change her life forever?
A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.
This was a tough read. I have no words...but so many at the same time. This read had me all over the place. “To find the other piece that completes you” that right there is rare.55
I wrote these points done as I was reading... -love the detail. I can picture everything. - Taught me to be protective and alert always - Always carry some type of weapon - Never go to Mexico or France especially somewhere alone - Reminds me of fifty shades - YOU MUST READ IT ALL THE WAY TO KNOW HOW AMAZING THIS BOOK REALLY IS Negative (spoilers) - Why didn’t they, especially Q, just tell her what he was doing? - Was all the times he lashed out on her because he was acting out his desires? I’m guessing yes but felt that’s kinda not clear since he hit her less then 10minutes in the door because she didn’t want to be to the library with him.55
Wow so raw, and gritty! Loved Q and Tess’s story. Can’t wait to read more in the trilogy. Five cheers for Penni Winters. 💗💗55
This was an amazing read!!! Such a dark and twisted book but in the end turns out great!55
Theme song: "Demons" by Imagine Dragons (I waited to read the entire series (Je Suis à Toi withstanding) before reviewing the entire trilogy) When Tess is kidnapped on a vacation with her (for a lack of better words) "choir-boy" boyfriend, thus begins her evolution from a quiet, well-mannered lady into a fierce, take no prisoners woman. And then she meets Q, and he makes everything within her contradict. All she knows is that Mr. Mercer is dangerous to her sanity, and the sooner she escapes, the better off she'll be...or so she believes. Q is one of those villain/hero types, like Cat Woman (..then again, I've never seen a film with that character, lol.) Tortured by his past, he struggles more than ever when Tess tests his control and everything's he's kept buried. But as she wars with her body and mind, she's shattering his resolve. Book one revolves physicality as volume two is emotion and three mental. Each one tests all three wellness areas, and while these damaged character tumble and fumble, they'll have to learn their limits and push their barriers. Written in "dual" language (English primary + French) Tears of Tess is truly a beauty and the beast type of tale with a helluva intense *ahem* steam. (Lol, there's a reason it's rated 18+) Seriously. ((I'll admit, this was my first dark romance, so I had no idea what I was getting into. XD BUT, that being said, what an introduction into the Romance world!)) As the first installment of the series, these monsters will have to find each other in the dark. I'll part with a quote from Albus Dumbledore that sets the tone for the series. "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." Pepper is consistent with her characters--thank you, God! Even as they evolve, their personalities don't earthquake shift. Winters syntax and how she incorporates literary devices/elements is one of the best I've seen! Furthermore, this is her DEBUT novel!!! One might expect (like JK Rowling--not that I have anything negative thing to say about that awesome woman) that the first isn't the best in terms of pace, syntax, editing, what have you. But, Pepper impressed me straight out of the gate! Between plot and construction of the story (again, mechanics, pace, believability), Pepper excels at both! I definitely recommend buying the Kindle series set, it'll save you a bunch of "tax" money! LOL Unless you like the individual covers like I do! I hope to someday own the paperback copies. 🍉🍊🍍 Hero rating: 5 stars Heroine rating: 5 stars Writing mechanics (literary elements/devices usage included): 5 stars Plot rating: 5 stars Dialogue rating: 5 stars Storytelling rating: 5 stars Story ending rating: 5 Sexual tension rating: 5 stars Sex scenes rating: 5 stars Sex scenes frequency: 5 stars (not good nor bad, just occurrence rating) ********************************************** Overall rating: 5 stars Would I recommend this series: Yes. Great book! I can't wait to read the next one!55
I was captivated along with Tess. I felt her inertermoil and longings. This book is incredible.55
Was very disappointed with this book. Which was sad since I loved the other books Pepper has written. I didn't mind the darkness that centered the story but what drove me crazy was the heroine. She was extremely indecisive. One minute she wanted to fight, then she was begging to "belong", to then crying out of guilt. She's all over the place and lacked the strength and growth I was looking for. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. It's not the worth the time unless you want to read about a character who can't connect with its readers or feel something other then frustrating annoyance.15
Love the series title. Monsters inside of all of us. Just have to be brave enough to explore them.55
I have never written a bad review for a book before. Actually I rarely write reviews and when I do it's good ones. I take into consideration the amount of work that writers put into their books. So after reading this I let it simmer. However very time I think about the book, I think one word..trash!15
