Book One of The Guardians Series
"You're a jackass."
Will turned that pale gaze on her, and she cursed the color that immediately flushed her cheeks. "Because I told him the truth?"
"Because you're a jackass." She looked at Rafe. "Don't worry. He's all bark."
"Am I now?"
She heard the taunt in those words—her cheeks were on fire—but she didn't deign to look at him. "Like one of those little purse dogs. All yap."
Rafe appeared skeptical. "He looks like a wolf."
"Woof," Will said.
Cheyenne Elias has inherited a child. A boy she doesn't know and doesn't particularly want; a boy whose mother was once Cheyenne's most hated person in the world. There are a million reasons to walk away: her anger, her past, her certainty that there is nothing benevolent in this act by a woman who almost killed her. But abandoning the boy to a system she barely survived is not an option.
Will Blackheart has lost everything. His SEAL team, his country, and—upon occasion—his mind. Worse, he's lost something that has the capacity to kill thousands. Left for dead in the Afghan desert, Will has risen solely for the purpose of regaining that which was taken...and to punish those who dared take it.
His only lead is the son of a dead woman. Her only goal is to save a child. As they come together in a clash of anger, mistrust and potent, unwanted desire, Will and Cheyenne must put aside their differences and navigate the endgame of a woman for whom nothing was taboo…
A steamy thriller with captivating characters you won't forget...romantic suspense at its best.
"Isn't it wonderful, as a reader, to pick up a book you are skeptical of and find yourself in the hands of an expert lover of words?"
"Gripping. Dark. Beautiful."
Absolutely one of the best books I have read. The characters were so real and imperfect that I felt like I knew them. The plot kept me turning the pages and finally the writing was just amazing.55
Read it in one sitting. It was great! Sorry but skimmed the sex part. NEcessary, but too graphic for me. Right for them.55
The writing is magnificent and the hate/love/hero/strong willed/love story is great! Double-crosses, CIA, military hunky men, strong amazing woman and broken spirits made this story amazing. It has a hot HEA and all the twists explained with shocking surprises. Must read!45
This was a really good book. I enjoyed it very much, it was not boring and had some amazing characters.55
Constant action that keeps you engaged and wanting to know what happens next! Well written and no cliffhanger!55
One of the best reads in a very long time. Characters were engaging and real and I felt was right there with them. Found myself holding my breath in a few places which is a rare feat! Quick paced story line had me guessing until the end. Will read many more by this author!55
It really is just that.55
Such a good read, it keeps you going until the very end! It is hard to imagine rooting for such unlikable characters, especially Cheyenne. But it doesn’t take long to be drawn in to the tight web of Cheyenne, Will, and Rafe as they work to stay safe from hidden enemies. I loved it!55
Fast paced page turner that’s hard to put down. Loved Rafe, Will, and Cheyanne. The plot of this book will quickly draw you into their lives and the adventures they have to stay alive. Great book !55
This book was awesome! I really enjoyed the plot twists- the beginning was a little hard to follow but so worth it because this was a fantastic read.55
