The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.
This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a great play script. There were a lot of new characters that weren’t really introduced, so it was a little confusing. The villains were also basically a copy of the villains in the Harry Potter series. And it’s pretty much repeating. Throughout the entire story, Albus and Scorpius were traveling through time. But what truly makes this story a good one is the power of story. The Harry Potter series is one incredible story, and building off of the series makes this play script amazing. I love Harry Potter, and I’m very happy that there was this story. The Harry Potter series has also taught me an important yet simple lesson. Love and friendship is the key to everything.35

This is NOT because it’s a script. I just think this story was not well done at all. Bland villain, same old story as the original series, just not compelling at all. This “sequel” did not (no pun intended) capture the same magic as the original series. It’s completely unnecessary, and doesn’t resolve anything in the end. Please do not make this into a film, I really don’t want to see it. If there is a sequel in development, please make it a different story.15
Seriously??? This is not written by JK Rowling!!! If I knew the 8th book was going to be like this I would have told Rowling that the 7th book ended perfectly and that I did not want anymore Harry,Ron or Hermione! I have to say I liked how she ended the last book with a very happy ending every good character like Harry deserves, but I still craved more Harry, Ron and Hermione!!This book is non sense if you are a real fan of HP you will agree with me and know this book does not belong in the Harry Potter series! If this is what JK Rowling wants to give to her fans,I DO NOT want to be a fan of JK Rowling’s anymore!!!!😠😡15
I didn’t honestly love this book. It was too much of a fan book you know to much into the past and confusing of what’s happening. I didn’t like it especially with Voldemort’s daughter and going back to when Harry’s parents die. :/ I didn’t like the time turner business and the Hogwarts express’s trolley lady. I was just like: what the heck? So yeah.... no offense I love your others books but this one is like ehhhhhhhhhhh...... please don’t read this book. It will truly disappoint.25
