Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two: The Official Playscript of the Original West End Production

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two: The Official Playscript of the Original West End Production Summary

The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Book Reviews

Puts all HP books to SHAME😡😤1 star

So I read the book, not the ebook, but I can comment here so lol hi, anyway this is a piece of trash! Like 1. They whole Delphi thing, like, I thought Voldemort loved no one! 2. Why all the time turners? Like screws it up SO much! 3. Is nothing like HP 1/7, no mystery whatsoever. 4. There is like no passion in the script, it’s like it’s forced. And I don’t like how Draco marries someone random, not like Pansy or someone we KNOW for Hp!? Very sad. Not worth the buy. I like how Draco is nicer tho! But it does say ‘based on an original story by JK Rowling’ Lies if you ask me. Any way the script seems like trash fanfic. Please just write your own fanfic, that’s what I did!15

To people calling it nothing like the original Harry Potter books they are right but keep in mind that Plays are the dialogue and can’t really explain the set. Personally I love the fact that its a Play and makes it so fun to read. 10/10 recommend45

This book is a disgrace to the REAL Harry Potter books1 star

This is the most horrible and disgusting book ever NOT JK NOT REAL HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS This is the biggest piece of trash in the world Did they beebing read the Harry Potter 1-7 After I read this I wanted to burn it but then my iPhone would have burnt too and I own the REAL Harry Potter’s on my phone I might order a paperback version so I could burn it15

Lied to myself to let myself down1 star

I don’t know what time is this when I did another HP reread marathon, but at the peak of my emotions and excitement when finishing the 7th, I purchased this book. I tried to find myself all the reasons to ignore other critical reviews, like how the two writers are so passionate and meant well or JKR helped out too. But I do not even know how to describe the heavy sink in my heart and my struggle to turn to the next page. Please don’t buy.15

A disgrace to all things Harry Potter1 star

I can’t believe that this is Harry Potter, it’s not even a real book. The plot wasn’t good either. Please, I beg of you to NEVER EVER read this HORRIBLE SCRIPT! (Not even a book with chapters)15

You can skip this2 star

Honestly, pretty disappointing after the first few scenes. The plot was uninspired, there’s very little mystery and (slight spoiler) time travel screws up everything in a series, which is why it was never brought back after PoA. Using time travel was such an impressively bad idea.25

Prolificly Amazing5 star

I thought when I bought the book that it would be a regular novel, not a play write, I was pretty disappointed. However, as I began reading it as if the final movie kept going, it was brilliant, thrilling, emotional, and I 100% recommend it.55

Worst Harry Potter book!1 star

Honestly, I have been a Harry Potter fan for 7 years( I am a teenager) and then I read this book, the cursed child. Completely awful! This book is full of mistakes and I think JK Rowling was under the confunded when she approved this. HP fans who LOVE this book are NOT REAL HP fans. Even though I'd say this book is the Cursed Child of the PH series, it's still reading.15
